The keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat dietary plan. It has been proven to help people lose weight by invoking the theory of “ketosis”. It does this by reducing the amount of glucose (sugar), fatty acids and airy that the body needs to function normally. For your body to go into “ketosis” it needs to have no carbohydrates whatsoever.

The majority of foods that we eat in the Western world are filled with carbohydrates – because they are easily available, cheap and taste great!

Unfortunately, these same foods aren’t necessary – they do more harm than good. A keto diet has loads of benefits if decently implemented. It can help you reduce weight and improve your general health as well as reduce risk factors for certain diseases. Read on for more details…

What is a keto diet?

A keto diet is a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. Like many other low-carb diets, the primary goal of the keto diet is to cause the body to enter into a metabolic state known as “ketosis”. Ketosis occurs when our bodies burn fat for energy instead of sugar.

When we consume carbohydrates, our bodies produce sugar as a byproduct. Sugar is a highly processed and harmful compound that we do not need in our bodies! Because of this, the keto diet encourages its followers to consume very few carbohydrates and as many fats as possible.

The keto diet is different from a standard low-carb or high-protein diet in that it incorporates not just protein but also fat, including healthy fats such as omega-3 fatty acids. When you consume fat with protein, the liver breaks down the excess carbs into fatty acids that are released into the bloodstream to be used by the body as energy.

A keto diet can help you lose weight, improve brain function, reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes and more. Many people choose to follow a keto diet as a way to improve their health and reduce their risk of certain diseases.

Reduced risk of type 2 diabetes

Ever since the high-carb, high-fat diet plan was first introduced in the 1920s, diabetes has been on the rise. The reason behind this is simple – a diet high in carbs causes the body to produce excess insulin, a hormone that prompts the body’s cells to absorb the excess sugar.

This high sugar absorption in the cells combined with a lack of exercise and incorrect lifestyle habits makes the body vulnerable to diseases such as type 2 diabetes. The keto diet, on the other hand, drastically reduces insulin levels in the body.

Therefore, it encourages the body to use alternative sources of energy (glucose from the bloodstream is broken down into energy). This, in turn, reduces the number of diabetes risk factors. It can also reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.

Eleusis: help for the skin and hair

The keto diet is low in carbs and high in protein. This combination helps your body produce ketones which can be used as energy by the brain, muscle, and skin cells. When you consume low amounts of carbohydrates and high amounts of protein, your body starts breaking down fat for energy.

This produces ketones (energy) in the muscle cells, brain cells, and skin cells. Ketones are acidic, so they can help rid your skin of acne, remove dandruff, and improve hair growth. They can also help improve your brain function by increasing focus and concentration.

Summary

The Keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that is used to induce the state of “fat-burning” known as ketosis. It is different from other low-carb diets in that it encourages the consumption of healthy fats such as omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids.

The benefits of the keto diet vary from person to person but may include weight loss, increased mental focus, better digestion, decreased appetite, and fewer risks of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and epilepsy. The Keto diet has a lot of benefits, but it is important to carefully follow the diet plan.

Not eating enough protein, vegetables, or fibre can cause deficiencies in the body and lead to health problems. The Keto diet is not for everyone and is not suitable for children under the age of 18. It is important to consult your doctor before starting the diet.
